Saving the world!!!

Today I've visited a cool website called "Guapuruvu.com". Guapuruvu is the name of a typical species from the Atlantic Forest. According to the indian legend, finding a seed of guapuruvu was a sign of prosperity in the life of the village.

Guapuruvu.com was created in 1995 by 2 experienced forest engineers with a challenging objective: recuperate the most of the 93% of the Atlantic Forest that has been devastated since Brazil's colonization and maybe start a movement to save the planet, includding different aspects like arts, music, communication and people! On this website, you can buy a t-shirt or request a design work and the price you will pay is equivalent to the amount of trees they will plant... :) You can download songs, wallpapers and prints for free. All these are related to nature. You can also make your art available on this website and help with the cause!

I've tried it already... I've sent some pics and downloaded the dolphin's wallpaper and two songs... "Be reggae" from the green feeling band, and "May's flower" from Nego Leo!!!

Hoje eu visitei um site muito legal chamado "Guapuruvu.com". Guapuruvu é o nome de uma espécie típica da Mata Atlântica. De acordo com a lenda indígena, encontrar uma semente de guapuruvu era sinal de prosperidade para a vida da aldeia.

Guapuruvu.com foi criada em 1995 por dois engenheiros florestais experientes, com um objetivo desafiador: recuperar o máximo dos 93% de mata atlântica devastada desde a colonização do Brasil e quem sabe iniciar o movimento de salvar o planeta, incluindo diferentes aspectos como arte, música, comunicação e pessoas! Nesse site você pode comprar uma camiseta ou pedir um trabalho de design e o preço que você vai pagar é equivalente a quantidade de árvores que eles irão plantar... :) Você pode dar download de músicas, papéis de parede e estampas de graça. Todos esses relacionados à natureza. Você também pode tornar sua arte disponível no site e ajudar esta causa!

Eu já experimentei... Enviei algumas fotos pra lá e dei download do papel de parede do golfinho e de duas músicas... "Seja reggae" da banda Green Feeling e "Flor de Maio" de Nego Leo!!!

Changing your perspective

A few weeks ago there was this huge blackout in Brazil, caused by a technical problem in Itaipu dam, the second-largest hydroelectric power producer in the world ( Yahoo news here ). It was very weird and a bit scary to realize how dependent we are on eletricity. For hours there was no TV, no radio, no computer. Some cellphones weren't working and despite my notebook being ok, it seemed useless without internet. I was at home when it happened and I prayed for those people who were out of their homes at that time. I imagine how many of them were in the subway, in the elevator, at the office, alone on the street. I remembered people in hospital and all kinds of situation in which people are highly dependant on electricity. I took that time to think and I realized we should be always ready to live with little, even though the media keeps saying we need more and more, in this endless consumption world. My testimony

I can't forget their faces... Their way to look at me as if we had met before. Their request for my lap as if I were their mom. I can't forget their laughs... Their smiles as if their lives were only happiness. Their hugs as if we could stay like this forever. I can't forget that moment... With so much love for a stranger. A tough moment to say goodbye. These words represent exactly what I felt yesterday, when visiting (for the first time) an orphanage. I thank God for this opportunity, showing me life just the way it is (or it should be). When I left, all I could remember was a big lesson - of happiness , hope and true love .

What's the difference of being different?

Yesterday I felt like Shrek... not belonging to the world. I felt like a stranger and that made me feel really sad. But you know what? Today I see a positive side of it. I mean... what is the point of being like everyone? Being different doesn't mean, in the first place, being wrong. Being different means being yourself. How many brilliant and talented people have contributed to the world? Weren't they different? That's why they could make the difference.
